Pothole Gardens

Pothole gardening is the way of the future. I've guerrilla gardened the square of dirt around the tree in the sidewalk in front of our door, and this is where I'll take my efforts next. Join me in a silent, and really pretty, demonstration!

Gardens spotted on Apartment Therapy.

Totally support your guerrilla, girlzilla efforts. But if you put a garden in a pothole, won't some car drive over it and flatten what you planted? I'm just asking...

I think of it like a mandala. Non-permanence is just part of what it is. But come to think of it, our potholes had grass in them that was doing just fine, so I think if it's low-growing plants they'd be alright. I pulled out the weeds and threw "dwarf" wildflower seeds in them, we'll see if they sprout and survive.

You could also do a little zen garden and rake it with new patterns every once in a while.

Or fill them with some colorful fish tank gravel.

Or something else wonderful and surprising.
